Biography

Karen Zale recently joined Serotte Law Firm as an Immigration Consultant having been on the other side of immigration for the past 20 years. Using her past experience as a border inspector, supervisor and adjudicator, Karen is able to provide insight into the inner workings of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in order to assist clients.

Karen was born and raised in the Buffalo, New York, area before moving to Derby, Vermont, in 2000. She enjoys running, hiking and kayaking with her husband.

Experience

Karen has spent the past 20 years employed with the Department of Justice (Legacy INS) and the Department of Homeland  Security  (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services).  Ten years were at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo as a Special Operations Immigration Inspector and at the Buffalo District Office conducting Naturalization interviews for U.S. Citizenship.  The past 10 years Karen spent in Derby, Vermont,  as Assistant Area Port Director in charge of four ports of entry and at the USCIS Vermont Service Center in St. Albans, Vermont, as an Adjudications Officer, specializing in H-1B visas and TN applications.

 

Community Service

Karen is involved in the community as an advocate for a woman, Sally, who suffers from severe brain trauma. Karen volunteers her time with Sally every week taking her shopping, going to bingo or just having girl talk.
