Experience
After earning her law degree from Universidad Santo Tomas de Aquino (Saint Thomas Aquinas University ) in Colombia, Claudia began her legal career working as an assistant to the criminal supreme judge for the Human Rights Defense in the Supreme Court of Justice in the State of Santander, Colombia. She gained extensive knowledge of military criminal law when she led numerous cases involving military personnel.
Claudia then formed the company PR Distributions, which was a regional distributor of office products for the states of North and South Santander in Colombia. Acting as general manager, she grew the company to 28 employees, 35 vendors and approximately 450 customers.
After immigrating to the United States, which "represented a huge change" in her life; Claudia became a legal assistant for two different immigration law firms in Jacksonville, Florida. "I enjoyed my work a lot," she said. "I think that it was the best way to know the American culture as well as the law." Claudia decided to take a sabbatical from law and learned commercial and economic aspects of the nation for two years as a business manager for a general contractor.
Returning to her passion for law and society, she is now working as an administrative and legal assistant for Serotte Scarborough & Associates, while working toward an administration of justice and security master's degree.
In addition to holding a law degree, Claudia also earned a master's degree in energetic resources management from Universidad Autonoma de Bucaramanga (Autonomous University of Bucaramanga) in Colombia and a degree as an English interpreter from Praxis Laboratory de Colombia. She is continually learning the intricacies and nuances of the English language.
