U.S. Citizenship: The last step in your immigration journey
Congratulations on deciding to become a citizen of the United States of America! This is the last step in a long journey that you began when you first came to the United States, whether it was for education, work or simply to have a better way of life.
The nation's founders, who were immigrants like you, sought independence from Great Britain to have freedom of religion and speech as well as the right to assemble peacefully and to seek justice. You will be rewarded with all these rights and privileges that come with being a U.S. citizen if you:
- Swear allegiance to the United States;
- Support and defend the Constitution and its laws; and
- Serve the country when required.
Benefits of using an attorney in the naturalization process
The extensive amount of information provided on the Internet can make the naturalization process appear to be an easy procedure, but for most people the process becomes more complicated than expected. Dealing with the USCIS can be an overwhelming and frustrating task even in apparently uncomplicated situations. Immigration law is constantly evolving, which makes the need for an experienced law firm essential for the successful completion of your immigration goals.
Naturalization complications can arise mainly in regards to:
- Determining acceptable absences from the United States including the length or the reasons behind the trip abroad;
- Defining what is not considered good moral behavior; and
- Proper completion of correct government forms. Fees, such as the $675 fee for the basic N-400, are non-refundable in the event of an omission or error on your application.
We offer three different Naturalization service options:
1. SL Executive-Service - An attorney prepares and handles your case from start to finish. This includes:
- Verifying your eligibility,
- A complete review of your personal circumstances,
- Proper completion of correct government forms,
- Submission of your application to Immigration and monitoring its processing to ensure positive results,
- Resolution and explanation of any criminal or other issues that may affect your case, and
- Access to attorneys via telephone during normal business hours or e-mail correspondence within 24 hours.
- The fee for this service is $1,500 plus a $675 filing fee and $75 for disbursements.
2. SL Lite-Service - This provides guidance and oversight in the preparation, filing, and monitoring of your N-400 application. It's efficient, complete, and well-suited to those individuals who are interested in saving money but still desire the guidance and support of an experienced immigration law firm. This process includes:
- Consultation with attorney,
- Client completes questionnaire,
- Attorney then prepares forms,
- Client reviews and returns forms, gathers all documents, assembles required exhibits, completes cover letter and returns to attorney for review, and
- Attorney then files forms with proper USCIS office. (If forms are incomplete or assembled improperly, they will be sent back to client.)
- The fee for this service is $750, plus $675 filing fee and a $75 charge for disbursements.
3. SL Self-Service - Download our Naturalization Guide and follow directions.
- When filling out the N-400, if you answer "Yes" to any question between numbers 1 through 32 in Part 10 of application, or "No" to any question between numbers 34 through 39 in Part 10 (Oath Requirements of application), it may be necessary for you to consult an attorney.
- The fee for this service is $75.
- Serotte Law Firm in no way accepts responsibility for the denial of citizenship or extended processing times for Self Service.
